In search for better alternatives for landline and cell phones, people came up with VoIP technology. Skype, Magic Jack, Vonage, Google Voice, and other, less popular VoIP service providers, have long ago proved to be more efficient in terms of expenditures and comfort of use.

However, neither of then was still perfect. You either had to block your landline connection and get a completely new number (Magic Jack).
